Fälttåg: Gustav II Adolf (papier-maché)
Kapitel Ett: Nykarleby
Kungen (söker) har ett hem / The King (looks for) has a home
In 2008 we carried out a study trip, following the traces of Gustav II Adolf (GA) travels in Germany. The trip took us back to the Nordic countries, Sundsvall and Nykarleby, a small town in the north of Finland were the inhabitants are bilingual (Swedish/Finish). A portrait of GA can be seen at the public square in Sundsvall and a copy of the statue made by children can be found in the museum. GA founded both Sundsvall and Nykarleby but never visited the cities. During our residency in Nykarleby we constructed a copy of the statue made by children and for four weeks we and the paper version of the king were guided around by the public, creating ourselves as a minority culture in Finland.
